Projects

XTRONIC is at the heart of every one of our projects. In other words, a lot of passion, expertise and a curious, flexible spirit. We are proud to present a small selection of our projects here:

Space Drive 2

Space Drive 3 | Schaeffler

Agile SW Development HAF | Volkswagen

Space Drive 2

We developed the hardware control of the safety-critical drive-by-wire system SPACE DRIVE 2 for steering, braking, and acceleration functions. Through special input sensors, such as a joystick, people with physical disabilities can control vehicles. XTRONIC has carried out the entire development process from A-sample to series release. The system is successfully deployed in series production and installed in a variety of vehicles. This fulfils the dream of mobility for many people with disabilities.

Space Drive 3 | Schaeffler

In the strategically important field of autonomous driving, we are jointly developing the drive-by-wire control unit Space Drive 3 with our parent company Schaeffler. The goal is to realize driving functions such as acceleration, braking, and steering via electronic control signals (X-by-Wire). In this project, classified as ASIL D according to ISO 26262, we work integrated into the overall project in system and hardware development, as well as quality management. The system is a prerequisite for autonomous vehicle concepts and is intended to be used as a basic technology in series production.

Agile SW Development HAF | Volkswagen

As a system team in an Agile Release Train, we support our customer in the field of Highly Automated Driving (HAF) by porting and scaling their test infrastructure in the cloud through the use of the latest IaC (Infrastructure as Code) tools. Furthermore, we develop tailored software solutions for transmitting vehicle-based data to the cloud (IoT Edge). By targeted analysis and preparation of structured data in the cloud backend, we enable the targeted further development of vehicle functions based on real data from the vehicle.

Connectivity

MBAC | Mercedes-Benz Group

MBAC | Mercedes-Benz Group

Based on the XTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (XCU), we developed the innovative connectivity module MERCEDES-BENZ ADVANCED CONTROL (MBAC). For the V-Class Marco Polo models and the camping version of the Sprinter, the system enables networking and control of numerous comfort components in the living area, as well as an extensive warning and notification concept. The system can be operated via a touchpad in the vehicle or a smartphone app via Bluetooth in the vicinity. In addition to development, XTRONIC is also a series supplier (TIER1) of the MBAC system for the Mercedes-Benz Group.

Infotainment Series Support | Mercedes-Benz Group

MIB3 | Volkswagen

Infotainment Series Support | Mercedes-Benz Group

For the Mercedes-Benz Group, we have taken over the series support of infotainment components – including head-up displays, display screens, speakers, headphones, microphones, tuners and instrument clusters – from the start of production (SOP) for all model series. In addition to the series support of telematics control units, our daily tasks include continuous development, defect analysis, and definition of defect rectification measures in cooperation with the customer and suppliers, as well as project and quality management and the assurance of certification and law-relevant changes.

MIB3 | Volkswagen

For our customer, we accompany the development and integration of the latest generation of infotainment central computers. Specifically, we cover the areas of in-country and abroad testing. This includes the updating of individual hardware and software components, defect tracking, as well as the planning and execution of individual tests. With our team, we ensure that HiL test benches (Hardware in the Loop) comply with the current test conditions and are available to the functional managers. We also manage and update a test fleet of test vehicles and carry out test drives with various focuses.

Display Systems

Telematics Test House | Mercedes-Benz Group

Telematics Test House | Mercedes-Benz Group

For the Mercedes-Benz Group, we take over the development validation of display systems and controls, such as display screens, head-up displays, switches, controls, as well as search and function lighting. By validating the technical and optical parameters in an early development phase, deviations from the specification can be identified in advance. XTRONIC measures, stresses, and qualifies the components in various temperature ranges. This enables us to provide our customers with a complete level of maturity in terms of optics, electronics, software, and communication in the vehicle. Additionally, we are responsible for creating and maintaining the test specifications, as well as the defect tracking.

Instrument Clusters & Night Design | Porsche AG

Instrument Clusters & Night Design | Porsche AG

For our customer Porsche, we accompany the development of instrument clusters across the entire vehicle portfolio. We take on technical responsibility in the development of display functions, testing the implemented functions, and in system integration. As component owners, we contribute our know-how to project management. In our night design laboratory, we measure and evaluate the optical properties of displays, indicators, lighting, and controls. Through our contribution, end customers experience a homogeneous and pleasant light feel, especially during drives in the dark.
