In this project, we develop and qualify central displays, head-up displays and RSE displays, audio systems, as well as search- and functional lighting for our customer Daimler AG.
Our aim and at the same time biggest challenge was to maintain a constantly high quality level for the various vehicle types from A-Class to S-Class, including a large variety of display sizes, audio components, switches and controls, and still meeting the high requests of our customers.
Moreover, with control and tests of initial- and prototype patterns we continually have to tweak and readjust the defect analysis. Regular software releases and hardware changes translate into constant modifications of measuring equipment for the requested quality standard.
We achieve all that by maintaining an expedient dialogue with our customers and their suppliers.
On the basis of our long-term experience in the area of testing, which has grown over the years by working with a range of other leading manufacturers like Porsche, Audi or JDI; and building on our well-versed and technically highly skilled employees, as well as relying on our excellent infrastructure, we successfully execute our projects. The interaction of all of these factors creates the basis for a sustainable cooperation and high customer satisfaction.
For our customer VOLKSWAGEN AG, we have supported the infotainment development from B sample to series production, including the development of the modular infotainment system MIB HIGH + / MIB HIGH Gen1 to Gen2 with 4 respective model upgrading. The infotainment system will be installed in the models Golf, Golf GTI and Passat.
The challenges lie in identifying the information necessary to execute the project while mastering a flood of input and data. We are coordinating a large team with international players from Germany and all over the world. The challenge that presented itself was keeping in touch with all persons involved to receive all information necessary and coordinate the process of the project. Moreover, different cultural aspects and perspectives had to be taken into consideration.
We were part of the development of MIB HIGH infotainment systems from the first hour. With the growing complexity and increasing impact of vehicle controls onto the infotainment system, trouble shooting became more complex, posing new challenges to us with each project.
To make it easier for our customers to adapt to changing project requirements, we have provided processes and tools for defect management. Additionally, we prepared information from the data base, drafting a clear and user-friendly list of defects. This list served us and all parties involved as a basis for day-to-day operations. We also established processes for our customers, to enable a fast adaptation to changing project requirements. With flexibility and by reacting fast, we were able to meet all challenges in such a way that high customer satisfaction could be achieved. Our long-term experience enabled us to use the infotainment software and the defect statistics to evaluate the defect progress and to develop suitable solutions to successfully finalize the project.
As a result of the intensive work on our projects we were able to acquire extensive, component-independent know-how in the area of testing. The benefit: a clear overview over the interaction of control units to be able to better evaluate occurring defects. As a result, we are able to independently bring test vehicles up-to-date.
Through the successful realization of projects and our expertise, we became a principal contact for the entire test division of our customer.
We have supported, and still support, our customer Mitsubishi Electric with respect to development, application support, integration, and qualification of the Daimler infotainment systems NTG 4 and 5.5.
Our declared aim is to provide excellent advice and effective support for our customers in complex, international development projects with many parties involved at many locations.
Especially our role as a link and interface between the OEM and the Japanese development site demanded maximum flexibility and reliability, as well as fast reaction in the face of continuously changing requirements. Other challenges were to reliably handle the continuously growing tasks and topics and to co-design processes with innovative ideas and solutions on short notice.
With our expertise in the area of development, integration and qualification of infotainment systems we were able to operate an experienced team, supporting the project right from the start effectively.
We were involved in all areas of the development process from project start to delivery to the customer, interacting with many parties and in many different functions from tester to applicator.
We were able to take on jobs that were continuously growing and address requests for new topics by putting new, qualified personnel into action – and that often on very short notice. In this way we could react quickly and flexibly to new project challenges, ensuring the satisfaction of all involved.
We also advanced process design with ideas and innovations increasing efficiency. We look on more than 10 years of collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric in which we co-developed several premium infotainment systems. We are proud of being part of this story and experiencing the systems in series application, enjoying the recognition of customers around the world.
PARAVAN is a specialist for handicapped accessible mobility solutions.
For our customer PARAVAN, we have developed the safety-critical drive-by-wire systems SPACE DRIVE 2 for the functions steering, braking and accelerating.
Our biggest challenge in this project was to develop a functionally safe system to prevent any harm to humans.
We have developed a highly innovative safety concept for the control of SPACE DRIVE 2, executing the complete development process from A sample up to start of series production. The system is already successfully in series production and is installed in a large number of vehicles, realizing the dream of new-found mobility for many handicapped drivers.
At XTRONIC, the development of Space Drive 2 kindled inspiration, as well as fascination. On the one hand we were able to help providing handicapped drivers with new quality of life. On the other, we developed a market-ready technology which currently is unique in Europe: a redundant drive-by-wire system with road approval.
The development of technologies and the opportunities they create is speeding up, and we are at the center of it: We are already preparing the next generation – SPACE DRIVE 3.
In an internal project, we have developed the comprehensive connectivity solution Camp Connect. It enables the user to control and retrieve all comfort and safety functions, including electric equipment and sensors in the caravan, via a mobile terminal.
Up to now, electric or electronic components could be used only via single, analogue control buttons or the classic LED/LCD control panel. The CI bus changes that and is already becoming the standard solution in the industry. Our Camp Connect System will go further an additionally connect devices and sensors with smart home functions.
Another challenge was the variety of components that needed to be connected to make the system modular and expandable for the customer. For our demonstrators we triggered and integrated a large number of new devices – a comprehensive pieces of integrative work.
Thanks to the flexible and modular built of our connectivity solution, the time-consuming integration of all components could be realized very fast.

At the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf in August 2017 our demonstrators were received enthusiastically by customers and end customers. The system is currently being developed to the level of series production for an OEM and can soon be experienced live.
For our customer Rocket Camper we have developed a virtual caravan configurator.
One of the challenges was the development of the configurator, which enables potential customers to watch and modify on the spot different designs with the help of virtual reality. To achieve a high level of immersion, another challenge consisted in visualizing surface materials and lights as naturally as possible.
To be able to minimize the latency between motion-tracking and rendering, we had to optimize the performance of the application with polygon reduction, shader adaptions and light/shadow settings.
With our long-term experience in the area of 3-D modelling, texturing, real-time rendering and post processing we created a configurator that meets all functional and visual requirements and enables a more customized purchase advice.
With this innovative project we could demonstrate how virtual reality creates added value for producers and customers in the caravan sector.
Mercedes Benz Cars
For MERCEDES BENZ CARS we supervise and optimize the development process for instrument-cluster software for series vehicles.
We were confronted with the challenge of delivering the correct software with the correct hardware to the correct place on time. This is a skill we enjoy to be responsible for. Another challenge lies in coordinating and managing the process in an international environment, which only works with close cooperation and day-to-day contact with customers and suppliers. It is our responsibility as well to be aware of legislative changes in foreign countries like alerts in case of speeding, and to adapt these in instrument-cluster software immediately. In such cases, it’s up to us to react reliably and at short notice. As such legislative changes have to be retrofitted in vehicles of older generations, our range of tasks then also includes the after sales market.
With a well-established, highly qualified team we carry the responsibility that in Daimler plants around the world the correct and defect-free software is installed in the right vehicles, including the respective hardware components of the instrument-cluster. In this way we ensure that all relevant driving data and safety relevant vehicle information is visualized for the driver.
The result of our work is demonstrated every day, on streets around the world. And we can observe and experience for ourselves the success of our work in almost every Daimler car. With the series supervision of the instrument-cluster we are able to co-design and optimize the end product “vehicle” of our customer Daimler around the world.
In this project, we have developed controls for Master Light Switch, MMI Switch and Console Switch Pack from Bentley for our customers BJAUTOMOTIVE GMBH and BENTLEY MOTORS LTD.
In this project, we were confronted with a number of challenges: The premier integration of AUTOSAR, the highly dynamic changes in requirements, as well as additional demands. Overall, we had to deal with a strict schedule which we could meet only because of our existing HW and SW modules, and thanks to our internally conducted EMV and ESD measurements. As tier 2, we are direct contact partner of tier 1 and OEM and are coordinating communication. Due to defective modules in the AUTOSAR delivery, we were faced with the challenge of creating workarounds.
Despite time-sensitive factors, the project is running according to plan, thanks to the great performance of the project team, which dug into the topic quickly and interacted perfectly. Any expectations regarding functionality and time frame were surpassed.
With the first-time, successful integration of AUTOSAR and an efficient coordination of an international project with all parties involved we have proven ourselves as a reliable and competent tier 2 partner in this challenging segment.
For our customer MAGNETI MARELLI GMBH we conduct the system integration, system validation and front desk activities of the instrument-cluster development for Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen.
Here, we were facing the challenge to ensure the required test coverage in a dynamic test environment. Especially guaranteeing workable results in the offshore test facilities required continuous and close cooperation across countries and cultures.
Another aim was to take on tasks at the interface to the OEM reliably and with short reaction times. New jobs had to be managed diligently, and customer requests had to be answered at short notice, which required some flexibility.
With our long-term experience in integration and qualification of EE systems, our projects soon produced viable results. Our highly trained employees and well-established teams provided added value for our customer by adapting to changing demands with consistently high efficiency.
With our methodical approach and personal dedication, we have gained the reputation of a technically versed and reliable partner to our customers.
For our customer ENTEGA, we have developed a scooter with electric drive, from product idea to start of series production – the eSchwalbe.
The challenges lay in developing a totally new e-vehicle from idea and design, construction, development and quality assurance up to start of series production.
The highly appreciated result was an electric scooter with retro design of the “Simson Schwalbe”. We have baptized it eSchwalbe and were excited to experience live the ready-to-start D-sample with TÜV homologation.
With the development of the eSchwalbe we were able to develop both a lifestyle product, and an electric mobility solution for the mobility of the future.
PARAVAN is a specialist for handicapped accessible mobility solutions.
For our customer PARAVAN we have developed the functional safety concept of the safety-relevant drive-by-wire system SPACE DRIVE III for the following functions: steering, braking and accelerating.
The task was to develop a safety concept for a system with the highest safety integrity level (ASIL D) according to ISO 26262 for functional safety. The challenge we faced was to design the safety concept in such a way that malfunctions are recognized by the system, which still continues to function properly: The focus lay on preventing personal injuries. At the same time, the safety concept is expected to meet the requirements of autonomous driving.
With the development of the functional safety concept of SPACE DRIVE III we created a state-of-the-art, sustainable architecture for drive-by-wire systems that can be applied in series production for the first time, and is also designed for future, fully autonomous vehicles including up to level 5.
We support our customer Porsche AG in the field of requirements management with regard to the usage of the software tool DOORS.
Our aim is to maintain, and if possible increase the long-term customer satisfaction. We achieve that by maintaining and raising the quality of our work, which is in itself a challenge as the volume of enquiries keeps rising. Additionally, work instructions have to be defined and consistently adapted, including individual supervision.
We provide Porsche with our expert know-how, supporting the management of specifications in DOORS, and ensuring the exchange of specifications from an operational and methodical point of view.
Our long-term partnership confirms good collaboration and helps to continually improve processes, creating real added value for our customers. We are proud of being so deeply involved in Porsche development.
For our customer Visteon we have developed a mobile test system for the infotainment system NTG6 of Daimler AG. It enables the joint testing of all relevant components like head unit, instrument-cluster and steering wheel keys.
In this project we were confronted with a number of challenges: The design of the test system had to be adaptable to three vehicle variants. As the systems were sent to the U.S. and Asia, they also needed to be transportable and robust. Additionally the test system had to be user-friendly, high-quality and with an appealing design to serve demonstration purposes. Finally, development had to start even before we had received component design by the customer.
We have developed a test system that is extremely flexible due to exchangeable front panels. This allows for easy and swift replacement of components in case of mechanical changes. The case design in combination with the removable trolley achieves a high level of mobility with appealing design.
