AUTOMATED DRIVING

TECHNOLOGY FOR A NEW MOBILITY.

We proudly present our innovative drive-by-wire-system „SPACE DRIVE“ with steering, braking and accelerating functions, developed for the company PARAVAN. With the support of input sensors, for instance with a joystick, drivers with physical restrictions are able to steer the vehicle. The newly acquired mobility and freedom is a significant uplift of quality of life for many.

Together with our partners, we research and pre-develop solutions for autonomous driving. SPACE DRIVE can function as a basic system for this when adapted to production vehicles.

With our impulses, we are helping to shape the mobility of the future: We develop concepts and solutions for automated driving. The highest levels of reliability and safety are essential. We therefore develop our systems according to the functional safety standard ISO 26262.

PROJECT

For our customer PARAVAN, we have developed the safety-critical drive-by-wire systems SPACE DRIVE 2 for the functions steering, braking and accelerating.

TASKS

  • Drafting of a safety concept
  • Hardware design and architecture
  • Creation of a circuit diagram in ORCAD
  • Layout and creation of sample boards from A to D sample
  • Commissioning of the boards
  • Controls qualification
  • Management of all components
  • Supervision of the project until series production
  • Series supervision

CHALLENGES

Our biggest challenge in this project was to develop a functionally safe system to prevent any harm to humans.

SOLUTION

We have developed a highly innovative safety concept for the control of SPACE DRIVE 2, executing the complete development process from A sample up to start of series production. The system is already successfully in series production and is installed in a large number of vehicles, realizing the dream of new-found mobility for many handicapped drivers.

At XTRONIC, the development of Space Drive 2 kindled inspiration, as well as fascination. On the one hand we were able to help providing handicapped drivers with new quality of life. On the other, we developed a market-ready technology which currently is unique in Europe: a redundant drive-by-wire system with road approval.

The development of technologies and the opportunities they create is speeding up, and we are at the center of it: We are already preparing the next generation – SPACE DRIVE 3.
